Tiếp nối câu chuyện của hiệp hội nhẫn thần, bộ phim đan xe 3 câu chuyện, Frodom và Sam tiếp tục cuộc hành trình Mordor nhằm huỷ diệt chiếc nhẫn One Ring, họ đã gặp được Gollum, người từng sở hữu chiếc nhẫn và cho Gollum vào nhóm. Aragorn, Legolas và Gimli đến đất nước đang bị xâu xé bởi chiến tranh - Rohan, sau đó họ đã gặp lại pháp sư già Gandalf, lúc này ông đã được hồi sinh. Merry và Pippin trốn thoát được bọ Uruk-hai, họ đã gặp được người cây Treebeard và chuẩn bị cho cuộc tấn công Isengard.

Một đêm nọ, họ bị tấn công bởi ông chủ cũ của chiếc nhẫn - Gollum, tuy nhiên hắn đã bị bắt lại và bị buộc dây xích vào cổ. Tại Rohan, Aragorn, legolas và Gimli đuổi theo bọn Uruk-hai đang bắt giữ Merry và Pippin. Trong lúc đó, vua Theoden của Rohan đã bị bỏ bùa bởi Grima Wormtongue, kẻ bí mật phục vụ cho Saruman Trắng. Quân đội của Eomer đột kích và giết những tên Uruk-hai đang bắt giữ Merry và Pippin chạy trốn vào khu rừng Fangorn và gặp Treebeard. Frodo, Sam và Gollum đi qua đầm lầy chết, lẫn trốn con rồng Nazgul...

Lấy bối cảnh sau Civil War và trước sự kiện Infinity War, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd thủ vai) do cùng phe với Captain America nên sau khi bị chính quyền bắt thì bị quản thúc tại gia với chiếc vòng theo dõi ở chân mà nếu anh đi ra khỏi phạm vi nhà mình thì nó sẽ hú lên, đồng thời FBI sẽ tới để dạy dỗ anh. Trong một lần đi tắm, anh mơ gặp mẹ của Hope (Evangeline Lilly đóng) là Janet đang bị mắc kẹt trong lượng tử giới (thế giới vật chất lượng tử). Chính vì vậy, tiến sĩ Hank Pym và Hope (lúc này là The Wasp – Chiến binh ong) cùng với Ant-Man tìm cách đi vào lượng tử giới để giải cứu Janet sau hàng chục năm mất tích. Tuy nhiên kế hoạch của họ bị ngăn chặn bởi một phản diện mang tên Ghost và kẻ buôn lậu đồ công nghệ cao -Sonny Burch.
