DESTRUCTION, được coi là ban nhạc Thrash Metal đầu tiên của Đức. Lấy tên đầu tiên là "Knights of Demon", nhưng đã đổi lại thành Destruction sau đó chỉ vài tuần. Lúc đầu, Destruction chịu ảnh hưởng khá nhiều từ tiếng bass của Iron Maiden, và các câu guitar của Venom, nhưng sau đó họ đã tự định hình được cho mình chất nhạc riêng, hơi mang hướng về lyrical theme của Black Metal với các ca khúc viết về Satan và báng bổ tôn giáo ( gần giống với trường hợp ban nhạc Slayer). Thành lập vào năm 1982 ở vùng Weil am Rhein với các thành viên: Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer: Bass/ Vocal, Mike Sifringer: Guitar, Thomas "Tommy" Sandmann: Drums. Sau đó 3 năm, album đầu tay của Destruction đã ra đời: Infernal Overkill. Tiếp theo, đến năm 1986, hoà mình vào những quả bom Thrash Metal trên thế giới, Destruction tung ra album Eternal Devastation và nhận được rất nhiều thành công từ các fan hâm mộ trung thành trong nước và cả những fan ở nước ngoài. Destruction cùng với Kreator là hai ban nhạc đầu tàu trong trào lưu Teutonic Thrash Metal có ý tưởng đưa cường độ của nhạc Thrash Metal lên đến đỉnh điểm. Các ca khúc được chơi với tốc độ nhanh khủng khiếp, nhồi nhét những tiếng guitar chát chúa dày đặc, trống giã ầm ầm như súng nổ.
