Album đầu tay cho hãng Decca của pianist trẻ tài năng người Anh. Album này đã đạt được một số giải thưởng trong đó có giải thưởng quan trọng Gramophone Award cho album nhạc cụ hay nhất và nghệ sỹ trẻ xuất sắc nhất năm 2012.

Chopin Liszt Ravel is the debut album from the incredible Benjamin Grosvenor. Decca Classics’ new signing made his name as an 11 year old prodigy when he performed at the BBC Young Musician Final, (narrowly missing out to winner, violinist Nicola Benedetti). Still only aged 18, Benjamin has burst onto the performance scene. His debut album, Chopin Liszt, Ravel is out this July.
Benjamin is due to receive nationwide media attention when he performs at the First Night of the Proms, which will be followed by a BBC Breakfast News appearance. He will also tour this season with the National Youth Orchestra (and play at their BBC Prom) showing his relevance and support to young classical musicians today.

Nếu muốn so sánh Callas và Sutherland, thì có thể up lên các operas mà cả 2 cùng hát, ví dụ Violetta (La Traviata), Turandot (Turandot), Butterfly (Madame Butterfly), Norma (Norma) etc... Những vở này rất quen thuộc và mình có nhiều bản Cả hai bà đều có danh mục biểu diễn rộng và nhiều vai trùng hợp nhau, nhưng theo những gì mình đọc thì kiểu như "mỗi bà mỗi vẻ... mười phân vẹn mười" Môt "La Divina" so với một "La Stupenda"

Em vừa nghe qua giọng ca của 2 nghệ sĩ này qua 2 album ma bác chủ upload ở trang này. Đúng là cả 2 bà đều mười phân vẹn mười. riêng em thì thích giọng hát của Sutherland hơn vì "dễ cảm" hơn, có lẽ vì bà hát "đời thường" hơn không quá kinh viện.
Nhưng "nịnh" bác chủ một câu: bác chủ phải được xếp vào hàng "La Stupenda" của làng HDvietnam !!!

Jansons - Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition (2009) [RCO] {24-88}

Tác phẩm Những bức tranh trong triển lãm là tác phẩm nổi tiếng cho độc tấu piano của nhà soạn nhạc Nga Mussorgsky. Mỗi bài là cảm tưởng của Mussorgsky khi đứng trước các bức tranh của họa sỹ Viktor Hartmann. Sau này Pictures at an Exhibition được nhiều người chuyển soạn sang cho dàn nhạc, và bản chuyển soạn được biểu diễn và ghi âm nhiều nhất là của Maurice Ravel. Dưới đây là một bản thu xuất sắc của Mariss Jansons và Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Vào năm 2008, Tạp chí Grammophone thực hiện một đánh giá các dàn nhạc cổ điển hay nhất thế giới với một panel bao gồm 11 nhà phê bình âm nhạc trứ danh trên thế giới. Khó để chọn ra một cd hay nhất nhưng nếu một cd thích hợp nhất để bắt đầu với nhạc cổ điển thì có lẽ là Tổ khúc 4 mùa Four Seasons của Vivaldi. Tổ khúc Bốn mùa là bốn bản Concerto viết cho đàn violin, trong đó mỗi bản (gồm 3 phần) đại diện cho một mùa trong năm: xuân, hạ, thu, đông với rất nhiều những giai điệu quen thuộc. Khúc mùa xuân mở đầu với những nét nhạc quen thuộc sử dụng trong chương trình dự báo thời tiết trên VTV.

Bản thu được đánh giá cao của Tổ khúc là của Sir Neville Marriner với dàn nhạc do ông sáng lập rất nổi tiếng với các tác phẩm thời kỳ Baroque. Bản thu này nằm trong bộ Decca Legends ở đây.

"This is one hell of a performance of Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto. Emmanuelle Bertrand and conductor Pascal Raphé team up to produce one of the most intense and neurotic versions yet of this intense and neurotic piece. In the outer movements, they adopt fleet tempos that emphasize the music’s twitchy edge, and the engineers daringly balance Bertrand a touch less forward then usual, comfortably within the ensemble. This highlights every mocking grunt and snort of the wind section – listen to the contrabassoon in the first movement’s second subject. It’s unforgettably vivid and to the point.
The slow movement and ensuing cadenza, by contrast, are intense in a different way: slow, hushed, and grave (save at the anguished climax of the former). I was particularly pleased that Bertrand was able to keep her usually adenoidal breathing in check at the start of the cadenza. Indeed, although a certain amount of huffing and puffing seems to come with the territory in this concerto, Bertrand is no worse than many of her colleagues, and she at least has the excuse of being nakedly expressive to a degree that makes you fear for her mental health. The horn, clarinet, and timpani soloists also are all excellent.
The couplings are interesting and apt, and no less well done. Shostakovich’s Cello Sonata still isn’t all that well known. It dates from the time of the First Piano Concerto, before the Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk debacle, and so represents his mature early style. It’s a big, serious, very beautiful piece that both Bertrand and pianist Pascal Amoyel play with the attention to detail that it deserves. The Moderato for cello and piano is a recently discovered fragment that presumably dates from about the same time as the Sonata, and makes an apt encore. Still, it’s the concerto that most lingers in the mind here – it’s just sensational, and may well become your “go to” version of the piece." – David Hurwitz, ClassicsToday.com
