Có liên quan đến "The Pattern" là Massive Dynamics (1 tập đoàn toàn cầu nắm trong tay cực nhiều công nghệ và kĩ thuật tiên tiến) là đối thủ của MD là ZFT, (tổ chức khủng bố sinh học) - giữa trận chiến của MD và ZFT,Olivia và những người khác liệu chỉ là những quân cờ, hay liệu họ có thể khám phá ra mọi chuyện hay ko ? Olivia Dunham a.k.a Oliv,Liv 28 tuổi,người chỉ huy Fringe Division,1 mật vụ liên bang tài năng và xinh đẹp. Quá khứ của Olivia vẫn là 1 dấu hỏi,chỉ biết rằng năm lên 3,Olivia đã tham gia 1 thí nghiệm với loại thuốc Cortexiphan của William Bell (người đứng đầu Massive Dynamic) và Walter Bishop nên có 1 vài khả năng đặc biệt. Walter Bishop 62 tuổi,là 1 nhà khoa học tài ba lỗi lạc nhưng bị vấn đề về thần kinh.Walter đã phải trải qua 20 năm cuộc đời trong viện tâm thần St.Claire's trước khi được Olivia và con trai Peter Bishop đưa về Fringe Division. Cách đây 25 năm có quan hệ khá mật thiết với William Bell và là tác giả của của nhiều thí nghiệm quái dị,mà sau này được 1 người nào đó đem ra sử dụng. Peter Bishop 31 tuổi,con trai của Walter Bishop.Người có IQ 190 nhưng đã bỏ học giữa chừng,người ko làm được công việc nào quá 2 tháng. Peter cũng đã từng giả mạo giấy tờ của MIT,từng bị bắt 7 lần trước khi cùng Olivia về làm cho Fringe Division. Theo tình tiết trong tập 20 ở Season 1,Peter ko phải là Peter ở thế giới này mà là alter-Peter,sau đó năm 7 tuổi được Walter đón sang bên này.
