This was a truly amazing film. I live in the town it was filmed at, go to the school, got to see the set and the movie as it was being filmed, and I mainly went to see the movie to see how it turned out. When I got out of it, I was in shock. In shock of how good it was. This has got to be one of the best vampire horror/thriller/romance films I have ever seen. I was thoroughly entertained by the movie and felt a real connection with all of the characters, especially Abby and Owen. I could feel the connection between the two of them. Let the Right One In was a good movie too. But I do not see any reason to compare the two of them. I think we should just think of both of the movies as really great movies, and not decide that we like the remake less just because it isn't the original. But if you want me to decide, I'll have to say that LMI was the superior film. It is a beautiful story, with fantastic characters and plot-points. Matt Reeves certainly has come back from his "Cloverfield-disaster". Any directors who could can make a movie like this can definitely redeem them self from any bad movie. The changes he has made from the book, do not ruin the movie at all, they just create Matt Reeve's own vision of the story (again, there is no reason to compare the movie to the book it is based off of). He did a fantastic job of making the film agreeable to any movie-goer. The acting in the movie was also great. Kodi Smit-McPhee did a fantastic job as Owen. I felt his pain from the bullying he went through at school, and his attraction to Abby. Chloë Grace Moretz was a fantastic actress in this film. She is a fantastic actress. She is very good-looking, and a fantastic actress and I can see her one day as a hot, Oscar-winning actress. Chloë did a phenomenal job as Abby. Abby is about 250 years old, but still in a way, she is still innocent like a child. Like a 12-year-old, who wants a true friend, but has trouble since she has a vampire-side to her that she doesn't like coming out. I thought that she found this when she met Owen. She does obviously care a lot for her caretaker, but after he is killed (very sad story as well), Abby doesn't seem to care as much as she cares for Owen. So, IMO, the future for Abby and Owen does look pretty bright. Maybe Abby will bite Owen so they can be together forever and share the pain of being a vampire, or maybe not. IDK, I guess it is up to you what happens in the epilogue since the movie doesn't say specifically what will happen. In conclusion, Let Me In was indeed "One of the Best Horror Films of the Past 20 Years". Yes, it did get pretty gruesome, but I still found the movie very redeeming, beautiful, entertaining, and any other adjective you could give a horror film. I will buy the movie on blu-ray disc. If you are holding back on going to see the movie because of the box office numbers, the film being a remake, or anything else, I say go and see it. You will not regret it. The box office numbers are pretty much meaningless. Some of the best films in America didn't do so hot at the box office. But they still ended up as cult favorites. So, go and see this movie!
