The NOR has 2.35:1, acid cold colors, too much brightness (but it's Jean-Paul Gaultier, so who knows how actually it should look like) and mostly it has no detail; on the other hand, the US has 2.40:1, a completely different chroma (but some people said it's colorless, and faces look like the faces of corpses, they look sick) and finally it has nice detail. All of that complicated my work. I had to choose either a large area of video in most scenes or details, if we're not talking about colors. • OK, there're two ways: some saturation and a hybrid encode. Unfortunately, the red tint begins to appear more when the sat tweak is increased, so I tried to avoid a bit of red tint and an offset of white to blue or green when the two sources were combined, but it wasn't so easy as I thought. Also, any further boosting of white will lead to a grey chroma degradation, as happened with the NOR bd, it's very difficult to keep the balance between colors. • It was decided after some time to use the third source (GBR) to get rid of banding in some scenes. • Dozens of defective frames were fixed. • Further, the original TrueHD from the US bd has a constant bit depth of 20 bits unlike the other tracks: DTS-HD MA and LPCM which have a bit depth of 16 bit, so I took the embedded track from the TrueHD. Quote eac3to l:\bd_us\english.thd+ac3 -analyzebitdepth TrueHD/AC3, 5.1 channels, 48kHz (embedded: AC3, 5.1 channels, 640kbps, 48kHz, dialnorm: -30dB) Extracting TrueHD stream... Decoding with libav/ffmpeg... The original audio track has a constant bit depth of 20 bits. eac3to processing took 4 minutes, 25 seconds. Done.
