Source #1: GBR Arrow UHD Blu-ray - used for video + audio + subs Source #2: USA Criterion Blu-ray - used for director commentary + subs (HDR tonemapped) Source #3: GER UHD Blu-ray - used for subs Source #4: NTSC DVD - used for named chapters Arrow release preserves the film grain very well in challenging scenes where blocking would start to distort fine details in the previous GER UHD Blu-ray source. It's still a hit and miss in stationary less complex scenes where some detail looks better in some parts of the image on the GER source but mostly the GBR Arrow release has slightly more detail. For audio the previous GER UHD source truncated to 16-bit resolution so not used. Both the Arrow and Criterion offered 24-bit audio but Criterion appear to have applied some normalisation filtering again with peaks 1dB lower but average levels pushed up compared to Arrow. So used the Arrow source without the filtering adjustments. The previous remux included a LaserDisc rip of the Criterion director commentary but it has some minor sync issues in parts so used the commentary on the new Criterion BD which is properly in sync. Arrow provided only a film critic commentary on their release which is far less interesting than the directory commentary however it's worth a listen if you've already heard the director commentary. Criterion have put in more effort on their English SDH subs compared with Arrow, but still included both to offer choice. Comparison: https://slow.pics/c/42falxHH
