“ Nature’s Great Events is a BBC nature documentary series broadcast from 11 February 2009. The British version is narrated by David Attenborough and is being shown on BBC One and BBC HD.

In the USA, the series will broadcast on the Discovery Channel under the alternative title Seasons of Survival.

    Filming techniques

The great events of the title refer to animal migrations and seasonal changes which occur on a huge scale. Although most have been filmed many times before, this series promises to show familiar scenes in a new way by incorporating the latest scientific research and making use of new technology. Nature’s Great Events has been filmed entirely in high-definition. Other technologies employed include FrankenCam, a motion-control macro camera developed by Ammonite Films and capable of shooting extreme close-ups of tiny subjects.

A 2-disc, Region 2, DVD was released by 2 entertain in March 2009, featuring all six full-length episodes.
