Their appeal against conviction was dismissed by the Lord Chief Justice in 1976. World In Action investigated and in 1985 produced In The Interests Of Justice, which presented fresh forensic and other evidence suggesting that the men might have been wrongly convicted, and that the actual bombers might still be free. Even after 25 years, I still find the program riveting, as it rebuts whole sections of the prosecution case, systematically, point by point. The program was instrumental in initiating a wholesale examination and review of the case, which eventually resulted in the verdict being overturned. World in Action was an investigative current affairs program made by Granada Television, which ran from 1963 to 1998.
