Leading French clarinetist-composer-improviser Louis Sclavis continues his musical adventures with Gilles Coronado and Benjamin Moussay, who contributed creatively to his Atlas Trio album Sources in 2011. The addition of Iranian classical percussionist Kevyan Chemirani, master of the zarb, has brought a new dimension to their world of sound. Adventurous contemporary music, says Sclavis, can be broad enough to embrace different but complementary traditions. “‘Silk and Salt’ indicates my desire for this work to take an imaginary, nomadic, Central Asian route, but also to address the idea of emigration in world history. In this case: journeying away from and back to jazz.” Travelling melodies and rhythms predominate. The changing contexts inspire some of Sclavis’s finest clarinet playing, captured by producer Manfred Eicher in this recording, made in Studio La Buissonne, near Avignon, in March 2014.

Inventio is an inventive project at all levels, beginning with the instrumentation. Marco Ambrosini is one of very few musicians playing nyckelharpa outside the Swedish folk tradition, and Jean-Louis Matinier has similarly taken the accordion beyond any ‘folkloric’ frame of reference. On the present disc, the French-Italian duo plays a program inspired by the baroque sonatas of Bach and Biber but also by the lyrical cadences of Pergolesi. They adapt and arrange works of each of these masters, and contribute compositions of their own.

"Arborescence" is the word for the way something grows, seeking and adaptive, like a tree - its roots and branches moving under and around things wherever they need to go toward water, toward the sun. Prize-winning young American pianist Aaron Parks titled his ECM debut Arborescence because the album's music is the fruit of a session of solo studio improvisation in which little was predetermined; the pieces developed in the moment like "living things", in the artist's words. “The music felt as if it were coming into being and going where it had to go, in that sort of arboreal way”. It's possible to hear fleeting echoes in this music of Arvo Part and Paul Bley, Erik Satie and Kenny Wheeler; but Arborescence is ultimately something deeply individual and intimate, recorded with the lights down low in the warm, clear acoustics of Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts.

By 1969, black artists were following rock's lead and recording extended epics. At the forefront of such experimentation was big bad Isaac Hayes, coauthor of countless Stax classics and an artist in his own right. On this, his second album, Hayes takes two MOR-pop benchmarks, Burt Bacharach's "Walk On By" and Jimmy Webb's "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," and spins them out into slow-building sermons lasting 12 and 18.5 minutes apiece. Heavily romantic, they predate by two years Barry White's symphonic adventures in the same style, revolutionizing soul music in the process. Meanwhile, on the album's third epic, the 10-minute "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic," Hayes and his backing band the Bar-Kays wind up sounding, bizarrely, like a black Crazy Horse.

One of the benchmark records in jazz and in the Ella Fitzgerald catalog. The Duke Ellington Songbook features a wonderful selection interpreted splendidly by one of the all time great voices in music. It was the first of a series of recordings by the prolific pair. Ellington's performances both at piano and directing orchestra are outstanding. This is beautifully balanced by the sweet and luscious delivery of Fitzgerald on the classics "Take The A Train," "Solitude," "I'm Just A Lucky So and So," and "Caravan." Theo mình, diễn đàn này để anh em zô, chia sẻ kinh nghiệm và các album nhạc yêu thích của mình cho mọi người cùng thưởng thức. Còn nguồn nhạc ở đâu thì cứ nghe rồi sẽ biết mà. Với lại không mất tiền mà có nhạc nghe thì phải vô cùng cám ơn người đã chia sẻ cho mình, dù có là mp3 đi chăng nữa..., nếu file chất lượng thấp thì cứ xóa đi, có ảnh hưởng đến ai đâu. Mình đã test rất nhiều file nhạc thấy rằng đại đa số là nguồn tốt đấy ạ!
Chân thành cám ơn các anh em đã chia sẻ nhạc. Còn nếu ngại nhạc down free có chất lượng thấp thì cứ đi mua CD, Vinyl, track HD music... (fải tốn rất nhiều thời gian, công sức và tiền bạc chứ đâu phải dễ, phải không ạ?).
